Kortney + Daniel - Cliveden House, UK

Luxury Cliveden House Wedding, London - Cliveden House Wedding Videographer

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE YOUR VENUE FOR YOUR WEDDING?

Cliveden House was a venue discovered whilst producing the first issue of our magazine, The Modern Jetsetter. I was drawn to the building for it has always been a rich seat to society events, having been previously owned by the Astor family. The history is simply so textured, with every room its own character. The French Dining Room is particularly so concentrated in opulence, yet so intimate in detail — the space felt like the collision of all our worlds: English romance, European grandeur (the panels were brought from Paris in the 18th century), and a ridiculous yet sensible room where only our most beloved would fit.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE JUNO WEDDING FILMS TO DOCUMENT YOUR WEDDING?

Daniel was on our frequency from the first moment we spoke. Connection is hugely important to my husband and I, and Daniel was really the only videographer who immediately empathised with and celebrated our unique journey. He put us at ease as we swam in the madness that is planning a wedding, even offering to send us car parts from Britain when we were stuck in the Austrian Alps weeks before the big day. He's that kind of human — perfectly patient, wonderfully thoughtful and as we discovered upon watching the teaser for our wedding video, the type who likes to quietly floor you with his talent.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS DO FOR A LIVING, WHATS IMPORTANT IN LIFE TO YOU, HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR DAYS?

Kortney is a writer and the founder of The Modern Jetsetter magazine. Daniel is an oil trader by day (and nights, too, honestly) and in all other moments, the sales and marketing arm to our publication. What is important to us in life has changed so much over the years. Long before our wedding celebration, we eloped in Germany, experiencing as much adventure and life together (as quickly as possible) seemed the modus operandi. As we step into this new chapter of marriage, we still crave adventure together but more slowly, intentionally, deeply whilst always being present for the beautiful life we've built in England. Our days are designed with a regimented schedule by me (Capricorn) and slowly but surely softened / arguably destroyed throughout the day with Daniel's spontaneity (Sagittarius).

THE PROPOSAL, HOW DID IT HAPPEN, THE DETAILS?

Our marriage is rather divided into two parts and two proposals. The first was when Daniel was living in Germany and I was finishing my studies in the United States. He surprised me by flying in for my graduation ceremony. He proposed in the same manner he had always seen in "the American movies" — at a restaurant, down on one knee, with the diamond ring delivered in the vessel of a chocolate cake. We started our life together in Germany. We eloped in a courthouse in our early 20s and spent the decade doing what people in their twenties tend to do: growing up. We travelled the world together, imagining our dream celebration once we found the country to call home. The second proposal was done in said home, both in country and literally in the living room of our London flat. I was celebrating my 30th birthday in lockdown. I refused to take a taxi to Buckingham Palace for whatever Daniel had in mind, despite his impassioned pleas. So, semi-defeated by my stubbornness, he got down on one knee as Taylor Swift's 'Wildest Dreams' played and proposed we have the dream wedding we waited so long for. I accepted. This time, the ring was the forever ring, and the same song is what I would walk down the aisle to that December day.

WHAT EXPERIENCE DID YOU WANT YOUR GUESTS TO HAVE FROM YOUR WEDDING DAY?

We wanted them all to be bewitched with detail. Given it was an intimate affair (in part because of the pandemic and in part because we simply prefer it), we wanted each guest to have a multi-sensory, enchanting experience of us and our love story.
