Oscar is originally from La Paz, Bolivia; located in the Andes of South America. He followed his Canadian wife to the foothills of Calgary to pursue their other passion; floral design by moving their blossoming business, Flowers by Janie Inc. from La Paz to Calgary in 2012.
While in Bolivia, Oscar studied Political Science + Economics in University and took film courses on the side. He is a huge movie buff and has a creative eye for design and lighting. He is a graduate of SAIT's Radio, Television + Broadcast News program.
Castaño was the last name of Oscar's paternal grandmother and also means chestnut tree and the colour brown in Spanish.
