Siraman Donny & Irine
The Siraman ceremony is a procession of a series of Javanese traditional weddings. Siraman is always done before starting the process of bridal makeup. In this ceremony, there are many meanings and symbols that contain the meaning of life for the bride and groom. Siraman literally means "to flush". The traditional siraman ceremony is carried out before the consent is granted. Siraman has the meaning of physical and mental cleansing for the two brides who are getting married. This aims to clean up all negative things that are considered to interfere with the marriage and consent process. The siraman procession is usually carried out at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the day before the consent is granted. This time is believed to be the time when angels descend to earth to bathe. The bride brings a beautiful impression, of course it is very appropriate if the process of "bathing" or splashing from the bridal couple is carried out together with the angels. In addition to self-purification, siraman also has the meaning of asking for guidance and the grace of God Almighty for the journey of the married life of the two brides. During the siraman process, prayers are sung to ask for safety and grace. Siraman is also a sign that the bride and groom are determined and ready to behave cleanly in words, deeds, and thoughts.
