Elopement wedding in Sintra, Portugal - it's just for the two of us
3rd of April, 2019. We got an e-mail from Beth, saying that she and her fiancé were eloping in Portugal. They were getting ready at Hotel Fortaleza do Guincho Relais & Châteaux and getting married in Ruins of the Chapel located in Monserrate Palace surroundings. We were totally down to do it since we've been wanting to shoot elopements for a while now. Fast forward several months, we were driving our way to Praia do Guincho to join Tom and Beth, getting ready in their hotel room. They were super relaxed, having fun, Tom was playing sudoku lying on their bed while Beth was doing their hair and makeup. I couldn't stop grinning all the time we were with them. They told us they had been traveling for a while in Europe and chose Portugal as their destination to get married. Totally ok for us! And then, Tom told us his sister got married the year before, on the top of a cliff, in New Zealand. So that's our milestone from that day onwards, to shoot a destination wedding, or an elopement, on top of a cliff, in New Zealand. They are from Australia and New Zealand and came all the way to Portugal to get married, how crazy is this. In fact, they confessed us that this was turning out to be their best decision ever. They threw and engagement party back at home with their family and friends and just by arranging everything for that event was becoming super stressful and not enjoyable at all. That's when they decided to do an elopement, far far away from all the complications, and with no strings attached. And this is the beauty of elopements, and it's probably why we love 'em so much!
We think elopements are a true tribute to love, and to the feelings that one has for the other.
So thank you Beth, and thank you Tom, for choosing us to testimony what happened there.
