Ikaria is a very special island in Greece with great history and tradition in the far east of the Mediterranean Sea. It is "the island of long life", as people there live much longer than everywhere else in the world and remain physically active deep into their 90s.
In early 16th century in order to stay hidden from pirates, inhabitants moved to the highlands and mostly stayed awake and work during night. This is actually reflected till nowadays, as in most villages life begins after noon and lasts long after midnight.
