AMARCORD | Trailer | Wedding in Rome
This year I was lucky enough to tell the love story of Marzia and Leo, in Rome.
Rome is a unique city of its kind. Walking through the streets of Rome, one is fascinated by the solemnity of its monuments and by the absolute beauty of its being a symbol of culture. Is an open-air cinematography set.
Stroll through the center you’ll come across masterpieces by the titans of European art – sculptures by Michelangelo, paintings by Caravaggio, frescoes by Raphael and fountains by Bernini.
For their wedding, Marzia and Leo chose the magnificence venue Vignola Mattei. This place is managed by the municipality of Rome for civil weddings. It is the church of Santa Maria in Tempulo, which is a deconsecrated church adjacent to the Terme di Caracalla. In this place, I have always felt particularly inspired by the old charm for my vintage wedding films.
The reception was held in the Scuderie Cicognani, where the wedding planner Benedetta Carpanzano in partnership with the flower designer Ophicina Botanica, the light service Pic Solution, the wedding stationery Nostroinchiostro, the laser cut writing Officine Ti.To. and the catering Le Bon Ton, has carefully selected every detail of the settings to create an atmosphere that fully represented the couple. From an old manor house owned by the Cicognani family, today it has become the location of high prestige for a luxury wedding.
Marzia and Leo were up for collaborating with me about ideas for their film. About a month before a wedding, I have had a meeting with them to get to know their story and find the best way to tell it.
I was no longer there to document the wedding event only, but to tell something more intimate. On the wedding day, I got confused among the guests instead, I made a reportage of their wonderful day with discretion.
Despite their history has been studded with obstacles, their smile has remained brilliant to reinforce their complicity, and the evening was held as an engaging party animated by the cheerfulness of friends.
I had a lot of fun telling the love story of Marzia and Leo: a couple with an uncontainable and contagious energy that has given me moments of poetry, intense love, and pure fun.
